What RO does to your water

Closer to distilled water than drinking water.

Calcium, magnesium, and potassium aren’t impurities. They’re electrolytes — they regulate fluid balance and cellular function. RO strips all of them.

A WHO-commissioned review found adverse effects from long-term consumption of demineralized water, and epidemiological studies associate low calcium and magnesium in drinking water with increased cardiovascular risk. Most people already under-consume magnesium and potassium. RO doesn’t cause deficiency — it strips the buffer that protects against it. Some systems add a remineralization stage to restore what’s lost. In one independently tested system, it didn’t close the gap:
